Craft supplies

Good morning, as you might have already realized we love to create whether it is crochet, knit, sewing or just about any craft. That being said we are also thrifty love to shop for bargains, clearance racks, thrift stores, church bazaar/rummage sales & now, we have craigslist.....I have a post that asks for yarn, thread, buttons, material etc...unused that is either free or cheap. I have had a couple really good bargains.

A couple months ago a young man responded with all his Granny's yarn. He said he had recently lost his Granny and knew she would want it to go to someone that would put it to good use. It was a huge rubbermaid tub stuffed full of yarn....$20. Then, a lady just gave me two of the plastic grocery bags full of yarn. Then, a gentleman responded that buys out abandoned storage units...another freebie. Last night I picked up 122 6" hand crocheted granny squares, 6 full skeins of "i love this yarn", 3 partial skeins of "i love this yarn", 20 crocheted needles various sizes, 2 plastic tapestry needles in a case & 2 yarn holders one hard plastic and one soft plastic that has the little hole so the yarn can (should) be kitty safe...all for $20 ; )

I'm so excited...as if I were a little girl at Christmas ; ) not sure what I will work on today. I almost forgot to share this, yesterday I got an email from one of the photographer's that I am working with. She is planning an event on 2/11/12 and has invited me to join her bringing some of the articles I have for sale...hopefully, bringing in more sales. So, I probably should get busy (on something)

Thanks for your interest.
Have a great day & God bless you,
Jamie

Carrot cocoon and stork sack progress...

Hi, I'm notusually blogging this late....I'm just so excited I finished the hand crocheted carrot cocoon and
beanie/cap/hat for baby, infant photography....my thought was that there is always an Easter Bunny at the
mall and what have you for photography and, Tammy suggested that I make a hand crocheted
beanie/cap/hat & cocoon that resembles a carrot to display the newborn for first photograph's so,- here it
is....I'm offering it for sale for $15 for photography prop only....so, I finished that much earlier today but,
found out the batteries were dead for the camera I then went to work on the shand crocheted stork sack
photography prop that a photographer asked me to make....(it is availaible for $12.00 and is intended to be
a photography prop only....we do not recommend that baby be left unattended) & David stopped and got
batteries for the camera so here they are...
Good night....God bless

Hidden amongst the bullrushes -- a basket cocoon!

This has to be a personal record...a photographer that ordered a prop hand crocheted basket cocoon sent
me a picture...I looked at it and looked up free patterns since my first post this morning I wanted to create
my own and used a lacy pattern stitch derived from a Sayelle yarn wrapper for an afghan. I have taken favor
to this pattern using it to create a hand crocheted lacy pattern stitch scarf, and a lacy pattern stitch
beret/beanie/cap/hat/slouch/tam in the past.

I can now add another creation using this crocheted lacy pattern stitch. In 30 minutes start to finish, including writing down the pattern...I made this using bulky Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn...this is for photography prop only we do not recommend leaving baby in this....I'm offering it for sale for $15.00 and it can also be used to present a gift of a bunny, kitty, puppy.....as always all comments, questions and suggestions are welcome.

Have a great day and God bless,
Jamie

Good morning ; )

I started on a different design for a hand crocheted caterpillar cocoon & beanie/cap/hat....I made a "pictorial"...so you can see from start to finish(?) I question the finish because I am
still undecided whether it will become the caterpillar as I had originally planned....David helps alot with
opinions and said maybe I should just leave it as it is for Saint Patrick's Day..I tried to arrange the pictures in the order of the steps to completion...

Hatching Egg -- Babies???

I spent the entire morning relisting on ebay, free today and tomorrow FYI ; ) I decided I would number all of our creations (that took a while : ). We have another photographer interested in us ; ) I'm so excited....I finished the hand crocheted baby bunny beanie/cap/hat with floppy ears and matching diaper cover with a giant pom pom "cotton tail" yesterday and then I started on an hand crocheted Easter egg cocoon & beanie/cap/hat...it's so adorable....meanwhile Tammy updated our Two Needles and a Hook facebook photo albums...she did a fantastic job you should check it out.... https://www.facebook.com/twoneedlesandahook

Well, here's the pics I'm a little tired of typing and would like to start on either the caterpillar cocoon or maybe (as Tammy suggested) a hand crocheted carrot cocoon & beanie/cap/hat.

Have a great day & God bless you,
Jamie

Hippity, hoppity, huh?

Crocheted baby beanies

Another crocheted baby beanie
And...the last crocheted baby beanie.....Now, onto........

Easter??
That's right -- ADORABLE!
Easter bunny hat and diaper cover
Complete with cottontail...

Well, as promised, I made a hand crocheted beanie/cap/hat out of the variegated blue yarn I "found" when
organizing my yarn/craft room.
Once I got started, I continued and crocheted a bright green beanie/cap/hat and a white beanie/cap/hat with an added red Valentine's Day heart. I show the green one with the rim folded up.  I am offering them for sale for $6.50 or the bargain price of 3/$15.00 - many colors available, with or without heart applique.

After all that, I really got creative and designed a baby bunny beanie/cap/hat & matching diaper cover with a huge pom-pom "cotton tail" looking forward to Easter Sunday.  I think it will make a great photography prop - selling it for $15.00.  All items are listed on Yardsellr & Craigslist.

Now, I plan to make a caterpillar beanie/cap/hat & matching cape also for a photo prop next, then an Easter egg beanie/cap/hat & cocoon, and maybe......... who knows....
As always any comments, suggestions are welcome.

Enjoy the photos.  Have a great day and God bless,
Jamie

Mission Accomplished!

Multi-purple/black granny square ripple king size bedspread/afghan View 1

Multi-purple/black granny square ripple king size bedspread/afghan View 2

Mission accomplished indeed!  They say two heads are better than one......  Well, my fiance' sometimes has ideas/suggestions about how to make a creation look better or stand out more.  So, he suggested that I put a dark purple border on the king size hand crocheted multi purple/black granny ripple afghan/bedspread that I made.  it looks great to me and, as an added bonus, the pictures are truer to color than the original pics I posted.

Tell me what you think.  Now, to the hat. ; )

Bad news/ Good news

I didn't hear from my sister/partner, Tammy all day Sunday & she usually calls in the morning when she's on the way to work (she is a  teacher working with special children) I texted her..."r u ok?"  She is in the hospital  - please pray for her.

The good news is that my daughter, Tiffany, found a bundle with all the flowers that she needs for her wedding party on Ebay for $190.00.  Isn't that awesome?  I am so glad she found them because they are beautiful and they are on a tight budget for the wedding.

As for me, I didn't get a whole lot done.  I made a hand crocheted lacy pattern ivory scarf and sent it out.  Oh, FYI postage went up $3.99 to mail it.  I said I was going to post pics last week of the hand crocheted variegated blue beanie/beret/cap/hat/slouch/tam I was going to make.

The problem is it wasn't quite big enough  for an adult so, today, I will make a child or baby beanie/cap/hat and post pics.  As always any comments, questions or suggestions are always welcome.

Have a great day & God bless you,
Jamie

Who knew turtles could be so cute!!!?

Hi, I don't know if I mentioned, someone was interested in purchasing the turtle beanie/cap/hat & cape photography prop that I created for Cynthia (photographer).  Well, I made it and she and I have made plans to meet next weekend so that she can get it!  Her name is Emily and she is, in fact, expecting but, listen to this, her Mother-in-law is a photographer!  So, I will make up whatever props I can think of between now and next weekend - a lot of potential.

I have a few things in mind, something for Valentine's Day, a cocoon, poncho, then, I'm thinking a caterpillar cocoon, maybe a little navy bib & hat, and a little tuxedo bib & hat - maybe even matching diaper covers.  The sky's the limit!

I have another sale on Ebay - a hand crocheted, off white lacy patterned scarf with fringe - gotta get busy.
As always, any ideas, comments, suggestions are greatly appreciated

Have a great day & God bless,
Jamie

Today's accomplishments and discoveries...

Won't my Granny be so proud of me?

Good morning.  Sorry I missed yesterday - busy, busy, busy! Which is great for us!

Our Granny originally taught us both how to crochet.  I was a little slower getting started (I was a tomboy and had little or no interest).  Granny would be proud of us.  I remember she used to have all kinds of crafts going, crochet, beading, etc.

We have found sites specializing in photo props.  My awesome nephew, Neil, helped us make our blog more appealing.  We are very happy with the progress we have made to date.

Little by little, we are getting there and we have great hopes for the future.  Tammy ordered some business cards.   (We have been printing our own.)  She also created a spreadsheet for pricing and inventory which will make things alot easier to keep track of.

We are now posting on Bonanza, MadeitMyself, and TradeProps in addition to the sites we have been posting on (Yardsellr, Etsy, Ecrater, Craigslist, and Ebay.

Tammy is sewing some kilts for a lady through work.   I can't wait to learn to sew!  I'm not so brave as to start alone but my first lesson is February 18th.

Well, I'm off to organize yarn, there is so much I don't know what I have.  As always, if there are any suggestions or comments, feel free to contact us.

Have a great day and God bless,
Jamie

Great day for models... :0)

Good morning, Yesterday was great for sales as well as advertisement I delivered 2 hand crocheted cocoons, a stork sack/hammock & the turtle cape/hat photography prop I created.....I brought along a hand crocheted vanilla cupcake beanie/cap/hat that I had in stock and pictures of the scarves, headbands (pictured) & a hat my sister created...it worked out,- the customer was thrilled she purchased the hat and has said that she will be buying photography props weekly as well as taking orders from her customers, also she has promised to take pictures of our creations on "models". I think all of this will lead to more sales....I figured out the pattern to make the hand crocheted granny square ripple afghan/lapghan/coverlet larger...I had done this years ago but, did not write it down....so, spent a little time getting the pattern/design to fit correctly. I am making large enough for a king size bed however, it can be used for a bedspread for a queen..I will post pictures when I am finished. Right now, I have a hand crocheted rasta beanie/cap/hat/slouch/tam to make. Have a great day.

Stress - design - turtle - what?!?

Okay so  am I the only one that wakes up in the middle of the night stressing over a pattern that was completed yesterday?  I am a perfectionist.  I'm not done with my newest creation (I still have other ideas), hand crocheted green & tan turtle beanie/cap/hat & detachable cape, but I am satisfied that Cynthia (the customer that ordered it) is happy.  So, here is a picture of the finished product.

As always your comments and suggestions are welcome.  I will be typing up the pattern if anyone is interested.  Have a great day!

God bless & keep you,
Jamie
