What we've been up to...

Good morning, sorry its been a while.

Tammy has created an adorable knitted raspberry cupcake beanie/cap/hat, and a hand crocheted, multi pink puffy star afghan/coverlet/blanket for a little girl.  I am working on a new hand crocheted Easter Bunny beanie/cap/hat & diaper cover & an adorable little Mouse beanie/cap/hat, diaper cover, skirt & Mary Jane shoes that resembles Disney's Minnie Mouse.  I will post pics later today.

Also, our friend Babs added some cute little knit baby beanie/cap/hats with tassels, some crocheted potholder sets, a knit beanie/cap/hat & scarf , and a sunset/sunrise scarf.  Oh, I almost forgot - a towel set that is monogrammed with cross stitch.

Bad news/ Good news

I didn't hear from my sister/partner, Tammy all day Sunday & she usually calls in the morning when she's on the way to work (she is a  teacher working with special children) I texted her..."r u ok?"  She is in the hospital  - please pray for her.

The good news is that my daughter, Tiffany, found a bundle with all the flowers that she needs for her wedding party on Ebay for $190.00.  Isn't that awesome?  I am so glad she found them because they are beautiful and they are on a tight budget for the wedding.

As for me, I didn't get a whole lot done.  I made a hand crocheted lacy pattern ivory scarf and sent it out.  Oh, FYI postage went up $3.99 to mail it.  I said I was going to post pics last week of the hand crocheted variegated blue beanie/beret/cap/hat/slouch/tam I was going to make.

The problem is it wasn't quite big enough  for an adult so, today, I will make a child or baby beanie/cap/hat and post pics.  As always any comments, questions or suggestions are always welcome.

Who knew turtles could be so cute!!!?

Hi, I don't know if I mentioned, someone was interested in purchasing the turtle beanie/cap/hat & cape photography prop that I created for Cynthia (photographer).  Well, I made it and she and I have made plans to meet next weekend so that she can get it!  Her name is Emily and she is, in fact, expecting but, listen to this, her Mother-in-law is a photographer!  So, I will make up whatever props I can think of between now and next weekend - a lot of potential.

I have a few things in mind, something for Valentine's Day, a cocoon, poncho, then, I'm thinking a caterpillar cocoon, maybe a little navy bib & hat, and a little tuxedo bib & hat - maybe even matching diaper covers.  The sky's the limit!

I have another sale on Ebay - a hand crocheted, off white lacy patterned scarf with fringe - gotta get busy.

Today's accomplishments and discoveries...

I got quite a bit accomplished today....posted some hand crocheted afghan/lapghan/coverlets, including the king sized multi-purple and black granny square ripple...FINALLY it is finished.  Also posted, some hand crocheted beanie/beret/cap/hat/slouch/tams, some beanie/cap/hat & cocoon sets and, last but not least, my turtle photography props.  Great day.

It's my sister's birthday today and I've decided the best thing about having a big sister is that I always have a friend.....

Organization

Good morning, not alot going on today. I got my craft room (yarn) organized yesterday...I have alot of yarn ; ). We have alot going on trying to get things posted on the different sites - need to get everything going.

I am going to make a hand crocheted lacy pattern beanie/beret/cap/hat/slouch/tam this morning. I love these - they don't take long and I found a really nice variegated blue yarn so, I'll post that later.

Won't my Granny be so proud of me?

Good morning.  Sorry I missed yesterday - busy, busy, busy! Which is great for us!

Our Granny originally taught us both how to crochet.  I was a little slower getting started (I was a tomboy and had little or no interest).  Granny would be proud of us.  I remember she used to have all kinds of crafts going, crochet, beading, etc.

We have found sites specializing in photo props.  My awesome nephew, Neil, helped us make our blog more appealing.  We are very happy with the progress we have made to date.

Little by little, we are getting there and we have great hopes for the future.  Tammy ordered some business cards.   (We have been printing our own.)  She also created a spreadsheet for pricing and inventory which will make things alot easier to keep track of.

We are now posting on Bonanza, MadeitMyself, and TradeProps in addition to the sites we have been posting on (Yardsellr, Etsy, Ecrater, Craigslist, and Ebay.

Tammy is sewing some kilts for a lady through work.   I can't wait to learn to sew!  I'm not so brave as to start alone but my first lesson is February 18th.

Well, I'm off to organize yarn, there is so much I don't know what I have.  As always, if there are any suggestions or comments, feel free to contact us.

Great day for models... :0)

Good morning, Yesterday was great for sales as well as advertisement I delivered 2 hand crocheted cocoons, a stork sack/hammock & the turtle cape/hat photography prop I created.....I brought along a hand crocheted vanilla cupcake beanie/cap/hat that I had in stock and pictures of the scarves, headbands (pictured) & a hat my sister created...it worked out,- the customer was thrilled she purchased the hat and has said that she will be buying photography props weekly as well as taking orders from her customers, also she has promised to take pictures of our creations on "models". I think all of this will lead to more sales....I figured out the pattern to make the hand crocheted granny square ripple afghan/lapghan/coverlet larger...I had done this years ago but, did not write it down....so, spent a little time getting the pattern/design to fit correctly. I am making large enough for a king size bed however, it can be used for a bedspread for a queen..I will post pictures when I am finished. Right now, I have a hand crocheted rasta beanie/cap/hat/slouch/tam to make. Have a great day.

Stress - design - turtle - what?!?

Okay so  am I the only one that wakes up in the middle of the night stressing over a pattern that was completed yesterday?  I am a perfectionist.  I'm not done with my newest creation (I still have other ideas), hand crocheted green & tan turtle beanie/cap/hat & detachable cape, but I am satisfied that Cynthia (the customer that ordered it) is happy.  So, here is a picture of the finished product.

Going pink - in a cocoon and hat, that is...

Good morning, I missed yesterday - extremely busy.  A photographer saw one of my posts on Craigslist and, so far, she has ordered 3 cocoons and a stork sack/  I have finished two of the hand crocheted cocoon & hat sets - one is navy blue, the other a soft pink with Caron yarn - beautiful, soft, warm...

So, I haven't gotten to the charity pics/listings yet - I've been busy though.  Orders, orders, orders - 2 more smoky grey crocheted lacy pattern slouch/tam hats, a grey & pink crocheted slouch/tam hat, 2 cocoons, and a stork sack. ; ) I'm pretty happy!  I will post pics - Did I say -- I'm pretty excited!!!!

Possibilities...

Hi.  Everything went a little slower than we would have liked this weekend.  There seems to be a glitch  in the system somewhere between EBay and Paypal.  Also, unfortunately, we have 2 payments for afghans that have not been met. Tammy sent some pics to a customer on Yardsellr of the multi-purple/black granny ripple afghan/coverlet/lapghan that I am working on.  She possibly wants one for a king sized bed - that'll be great!  I made one years ago but the pattern is no longer fresh in my mind so, it'll take me a little while to figure it out.  Plus, now, I have the help of my awesome sister.  It seems so much better when we talk out what will work/look best.  I have completed a crocheted lacy pattern beanie/cap/hatslouch/tam in smoky grey that I to send out and an order for an alternating double crochet beanie/cap/hat/slouch/tam one so, gotta get busy.  Have a great day!

Colors, colors, colors......

Well, I missed posting for a couple days but, have some updates on new color(s) for multi blue/black granny ripple afghan I've started purples and greys I'm going to post pictures and go watch some football and work on them....

Granny squares are flying off my hook!

Good morning.  I am so excited even though I'm new at this (my sister Tammy is helping me).  She sent me an email last night that said, "Check this out".  Our multi-blue/black granny/ripple afghan is featured on an Etsy site called Hooked at First Sight.  I am so honored.  There are some exquisite designs on that site, including a beautiful $800 stained glass afghan/bedspread.  I am really excited!

I have started the same afghan in shades of purple.  However, I was not able to find 6 colors to fade so I have 6 different colors and, being someone that loves purple, I know someone that likes purple will love it.  I attached a photo of the beginning square.

I am also going to design a Dolly & Me poncho & beanie/cap/hat with hearts in the center of the squares.   (I've already designed the square.)  It will be like the yellow and black Dolly & Me poncho beanie/cap/hat that is already listed on our page(s).  I attached a picture of that also.  Thanks for following.  Any questions, comments, or suggestions on any of this talk to me.

Revising, compromising, oh-my-ing!

Alrightee - This morning, I rambled on about the pattern I revised and have been working on for years.  Yes, there was a point to that whole conversation. :0)   My awesome sister came up with an even better revision to the pattern!  I absolutely love the pattern but, HATE the fact that there has to be 24 tiny granny squares made and sewn together for the corners.  Tammy designed a pattern so that the corners are completed in one piece!  (I've been saying that I would do this EVERYTIME I do the pattern.)

Patterns & designs

Good morning.

Sorry, I actually forgot to blog yesterday until about 2 a.m. (which would have been today anyway).  I will try to make up for it today.  I will show you the hand crocheted multi-blue/black granny/ripple afghan my sister made.  It is beautiful!  I love this crochet pattern and have been making it for gifts, sale, etc. for many years now.

I bought a pattern years ago (28-ish as I was pregnant with Tiffany my 27 year old daughter) for a crocheted baby blanket.   I believe it was called a rainbow set.  It was 6 different pastel colors and it was such a hit everyone loved it.  I had a problem pregnancy and had to stay off my feet so, I began making the baby blankets to (try to) sell in the swap sheet in Buffalo, NY.  It took off from there.   I decided that I liked the look but not the actual pattern so I began to work on one of my own and made a beautiful blanket/bedspread for my king size waterbed in 6 shades of brown and white.  I also offered it for sale.  We did not have the technology we have today i.e. Internet, Ebay, Etsy, Craigslist - we lived in a small town, Holland.  We didn't even have cable television.  I sold several of these and had customers from as far away as Niagara Falls, NY. ; ) So, with the technology we have today, hopefully this will take off good even though I'm not in the frigid cold of Buffalo, the Internet will take me everywhere.  Coming soon in shades of purple.  We have the blue, shades of pink, and shades of green available on Ebay, Etsy, Yardsellr, Craigslist, etc....

Crochet, knitting, & sewing - off to a great start!

Good morning! ; ) I started this blog yesterday - wanted to start off on the beginning of the New year.  I mentioned that my sister is far more experienced with creating crafts - crochet, knit and hand sewn.  I just got so excited with the news of the "record" (in a 24 hour time period) sales on Ebay but there is more!  We have two separate Ebay accounts and I reposted the same two afghans that we had sold.  It wasn't an hour later the minimum bid had been met on the hand crocheted multi-blue/black granny square/ripple afghan!  A few hours later there were more questions from Ebay members regarding the size of the hand crocheted multi-blue/black granny square/ripple afghan and the multi-pink hand crocheted granny squareripple afghan!  ; ) I am going to post some images of these handmade gifts/items so you will know what I am referring to.  I also wanted to tell you that I received a brand new Husquarvarna sewing machine from Santa Claus. I can now learn how to sew!

Today is Monday.  It is the beginning of my actual "work week" I made a resolution that I would treat this venture like a real business, posting new hand crocheted/knitted items that we have created as we make them and managing the pages/accounts we have with Craigslist Knoxville and Ft. Myers; Yardsellr, Style.ly, Ecrater, and Ebay. Everyday, I will make a call to 2 boutique/consignment, baby, children, women's craft, specialty, boutique shops in the Knoxville and Ft. Myers areas.  I will offer our handmade crocheted/knitted items to them for sale.  If anyone has or knows of such a shop that might be interested in taking part in this venture please feel free to contact us with information.  Okay, off to "work" now....this is so exciting!!!!

I am calling it "work" but, it is very rewarding in that
#1 my sister and I are bonding deeper.  We are in contact via telephone and/or email several times a day.
#2 crocheting/knitting is very therapeutic, relaxing. I have personally suffered with depression over the years and you wouldn't believe the amount of stress it relieves for me to crochet (Tammy is the knitter)
#3 profitable? We'll see.....lol. We have found some great deals on yarn, people selling/giving away.  That is another thing you can do for us if you know anyone that has unwanted yarn/material, let us know.

Two Needles and a Hook - The beginning of a great year

Hello, my name is Jamie.  My sister, Tammy, and I have enjoyed crafting since we were young girls. We now live in different states.  I have made my residence in Tennessee with my fiance while Tammy remains in our home state of Florida with her husband and family.  We started sharing craft patterns, crocheting, plastic canvas, knitting, etc. a long time ago. However, she is much more experienced in most areas.  She also sews alot, etc.

Last fall, we decided to open an Etsy shop.  Then, Yardsellr, Style.ly, Craigslist, and, finally, Ebay. We sold a few things here and there - knitted cupcake hats, crocheted caterpillar set, crocheted angel awareness ornaments (with a portion of the proceeds going to charity) cocoons, scarves, hats, etc.  Then, it happened!  Two days before the year ended, we had 4 sales in a matter of hours - a blue variegated knitted hat, a multi-blue/black crocheted  granny square/ripple afghan, a multi-pink and white crocheted granny square/ripple afghan, and a caterpillar hat/scarf and mitten set.  Our shop was under construction most of the fall and the year went out with a bang!

I wanted to start blogging today and hope you will follow along with us as we grow.  Not only is it fun and relaxing and somewhat profitable, it has definitely brought us closer.  We are in constant contact with one another.

I will close for now but will return tomorrow with more news of sales, new crocheted/knitted items for sale and/or patterns and images of our creations.  Let us know if there is anything you would like to see us make or if you have any cheap/free suggestions to help build our business and sisterly bond.  Come along, watch us grow!
